Odin Sphere: Final Comments~

Alrighty! Yes, I finally finished it. And man, awesome finale was awesome~ So lets get right down to it. I'll separate it into chapters and give my comments on each boss fight. Since that's all the final book was. Just 5 boss fights in a row. Then the ending. Anyways, when you start the book chaos is already happening. King Gallon becomes the king of the Netherworld since Queen Odette was killed summoning the dead to appear all over the world. This ultimately leads to the death of King Odin, who dies to join his daughter, Griselda. King Valentine reactivates the cauldron and sticks the little dragon, Leventhan, inside it so it'll grow up. The cauldron begins sucking in all the world's phozons. King Onyx leads his people out the fire kingdom and sets the forests on fire. And Ingway turns himself into Darkova again to destroy the cauldron. Yeah, it's definitely Armageddon in this game. And it's time for the characters to fulfill their roles~

Chapter 1~
It's Cornelius who is up first. And he has to stop Ingway since it turns out the Darkova spell can be controlled and one of the wise men, Beldor, is doing that. Ingway transformed for a good reason. He just didn't know that little detail. Anyways, the fight is pretty crazy. The scenery is pure chaos. The ground is breaking up and the world just looks terrible. He had some nasty stuff to throw at me. His three heads all did different things. One poisoned, another froze you, and the last one burned you. Rock pillars tried to block your way so you had to be careful if you needed to quickly run away. All in all, with all this it wasn't too bad a fight. Just defeat the three heads. After the fight, Ingway dies and Velvet carries Cornelius to safety. It's really sad. Ingway mentions he wishes he could have seen Mercedes one last time.

Chapter 2~
Oswald gets his turn next. And he has to fight the nasty King Gallon. Who looks pretty much like Ingway in the Darkova form since they're both under the spell except it's in skeleton form. With dead rotting flesh. Well, I guess being stuck in the Netherworld all that time will do that to you. This fight is way more annoying than the one with Ingway though. And apparently only someone of Titanian royal blood can kill him. Anyways, you have to repeatedly kill his three heads in order to get him to reveal his heart. That's the weak point. Once you get that down you win. But it only appears for a short time after you defeat the heads. So basically, I had to go three rounds of this nonsense until I killed him >_< It was quite tedious. All while dodging crap on the field. But after the fight you learn something interesting. Oswald's father, Edgar, was Gallon's son. This is why Oswald was able to kill him. Even Oswald didn't know this. Gallon had him killed because he married a woman he didn't want him to and didn't take the throne. Oswald was spared and found by the fairies. Gotta love surprises at the end. That makes him and Cornelius cousins xD

Chapter 3~
Easiest fight of them all if you just have the right item. Mercedes has this fight. And she has to face Onyx. It's the same fight you had at the end of Oswald's story. He doesn't change at all in his attack patterns. But first, before she meets him, she finds Ingway. Who is already dead of course. It's definitely obvious there was something between them. Anyways, Onyx interrupts this sad scene to talk about how great it is that the world is burning and that he can't be stopped. Even though the prophecies say he'll be stopped by the World Tree. He doesn't believe it exists. What is the World Tree? Keep reading~ In the fight with Onyx, if you have an Ooze it's pretty much good game xD The thing attaches to him and he'll spend the entire time just dancing around. From then you can just shoot the crap out of him. No damage win! He'd be much harder without it. After the fight, Mercedes is so weakened from the fight she can't even get up. Onyx can't believe he's been stopped. She ends up dying and as she does she reveals her true name: Yggdrasil. Yeah, that was awesome. Onyx now knows what this World Tree was. It was Mercedes. He dies and thus ends that chapter.

Chapter 4~
Holy crap, this fight was annoying and tedious. This one comes in first for longest fight of the last book. Oswald's comes in second for me. This is Velvet's fight and she has to face the Cauldron. Yes, the Cauldron. Basically, she just has to stop it from absorbing phozons and destroying the world. Cuz crazy grandfather wants it that way. There's only one way to deal damage on this thing and it's this eye at the top. You gotta climb up there and attack it. Once you do it enough times, the Cauldron will fall over. Usually it's walking around. But you gotta be careful. Every now and then a warning would pop up telling you to get away from the Cauldron. And you better do it. Huge explosion and I'd almost guarantee it'd be a one hit kill on you if you got caught up in it. After the fight, King Valentine tells Velvet that the only way to release the phozons inside is to control the Cauldron. But a curse has been placed on it by him. Whoever controls it will fall under that curse. He calls out Leventhan from the Cauldron and flies off on it.

Chapter 5~
Final boss fight~ And it's really cool. It's against Leventhan, the last dragon. There's Belial, Hindel, and Wagner. All were killed throughout the course of the game. Leventhan was just a little bitty baby dragon when you fought him with Gwendolyn and Mercedes. Now, he's huge. No huge is an understatement. This is Gwendolyn's fight. She gets the big one. Though it's actually not the hardest. The entire fight you're on top of the dragon who is just flying around. It's a really awesome looking fight for that reason. The scenery of this game is amazing. Anyways, you have to make your way to the top, his head. The weak point on him is the horn that his crown is attached to. You have to known the crown off. That was also in the prophecies. You have to attack the horn. It's a hard climb up and after you do a certain amount of damage to the horn you'll get knocked back down to the lower level and have to climb back up. Gotta dodge lightning strikes and electric balls too along the way. But you win and break off the horn which stops the dragon. Gwendolyn's wings are destroyed and she's pretty much falling to her death. She just wishes she could tell Oswald one last time how she really feels.

The book ends right there. But if you got the true ending you'll get another book that continues on called Wheel of Fate. To get the true ending you had to fight the bosses with the characters I mentioned. You can fight them with whoever you want but yeah. Anyways, in this last book Oswald saves Gwendolyn as she's falling of course. Though they're both weak as heck. He carries her to the Cauldron where Velvet and Cornelius are asking for help and collapses. Velvet notices Gwendolyn has the ring of Titrel. This is it. What she needs to control the Cauldron. She feels it is fate. Everything has been leading to this moment. Oswald and Gwendolyn are the crownless lords who will survive as the ancestors to all humanity. Cornelius tells her she'll be cursed if she controls it. But she knows this what she has to do. To save the world. She uses the psypher weapons to power up the Cauldron one last time and releases all the phozons inside. In the end, she is turned into a Pooka.

Chapter 1 starts and Oswald and Gwendolyn are looking at the barren land. The Armageddon is over. They survived it. Though the Pookas survived it too. Or some of them. Just as all hope seems lost, they notice the land slowly start to be reborn. Beautiful greenery popping up all over the place. This is a miracle. And they know they can't give up now.

Now then, if you collected all the coins from Valentine you'll get to see the Epilogue of this last book. It shows Cornelius and Velvet with all the coins and an image of King Valentine is summoned. When he was sane and nice anyways. They have one wish to make. But just as Velvet is about to ask for the Pooka curse to be broken, Cornelius wonders if they really should. The Pookas can live forever. And they can spend forever in love. But in the end they both agree it is best to live out their lives as humans in the new world Oswald and Gwendolyn have created. It's kinda implied that it's been a long time since then and that both of them are gone now. Not really sure. Anyways, they ask for the spell to be broken and both return to their human forms. A touching scene between the two as they promise to always be together.

Twas a lovely ending. Good game was good~ Oh and after the credits they show this image of a tree with Mercedes's bow weapon imbedded in the roots. So you get to see the wonderful World Tree she became ^^ Sad that she died though. Although a bunch of people did in this game especially at the end. Anyways, thus ends this game. I be working on Tales of Eternia at the moment and next is Phantom Brave. Thanks for reading~

Odin Sphere: Velvet's Story Comments~

Alright, I'll say this right off about Velvet before I start, her family is a bunch of crazy people. Seriously. And her grandfather is the nuttiest of them all. I kid you not. Anyways, starts off with a nice scene between her and Cornelius. Still in human form of course. Then he leaves and Ingway comes out of hiding. Cuz he was spying~ And Velvet isn't really happy about that. So, they have this nice discussion about being cursed by their mother to die. Why did she curse them? According to Ingway it's because they let her die. Who killed her? Her own father. Yes, he choked her to death apparently. Because she loved Odin and had Velvet and Ingway has a result. Like I said, the man is nuts. He even admits it. But this starts a long chain of events revealing these prophecies about the world's end. Most of her story is connecting these pieces before the final book. This is done by her mentor of sorts who ends up putting it all together at the end for you to see. And you actually use this to figure out the order to fight all the bosses in the last book.

We begin by visiting King Gallon in the Netherworld. If you'll remember he was the former king of Titania, killed by his own son after he was transformed into the terrible beast, Darkova. He wrote an epic poem concerning the prophecies and Velvet wants to see them. She wants to figure out some way to escape the curse and defy fate. She ends up finding him and he gives her what he has left of the poems. Funnily enough he'll play a big part in these prophecies. And of course before she gets to leave the Netherworld she has to fight Queen Odette and lag like crazy for a while. But she gets informed that her grandfather has escaped the Netherworld. This terrifies her and who wouldn't be afraid. The man is a nutjob seeking world destruction.

But she's saved by Odin randomly because he does care about her as his daughter. Even though he treats his other daughters like crap. Just saying. Velvet knows that her grandfather was interested in the cauldron so she wants to stop it. But the only way to do that is to have the ring Titrel. Currently it's in the Fairy Kingdom after they defeated Odin. She heads there and steals the ring from them after having to take on Mercedes herself. When she returns to what's left of Valentine she meets up with her dear old grandfather. He threatens to beat her with a whip to get her to obey him like she used to when she was younger but it ain't working this time. She tells him she's going to put the cauldron to sleep and then starts a race between the two to get to it first.

She does make it there but has to fight stupid Brigan again. Really tired of this guy. After she deals with him, she puts the cauldron to sleep and all is well right? Could be. Maybe. Probably not. Anyways, crazy grandfather sends goblins to steal the ring from her. Well, not only is he after it but Odin and a bunch of other people. So, she comes up with an idea to find a place to hide it where no one will find it. Off to Horn Mountain! xD Why here? She's gonna give it to Wagner the dragon. Who better to give it to really? She has to fight him first though. And he's annoying as usual. After the fight she tells him she wants to hide the ring. He tells her to give it to him and he swallows it. That explains how Oswald gets it later after he kills him. Then he gives it to Gwendolyn. Remember this~ Important element later.

So, she tries to escape Horn Mountain but Odin and his troops are after her. This is where Gwendolyn steps in to save her which leads to her getting treated as a traitor for disobeying Odin. Even though she did this for him. Oh well. She leaves and returns back to the ruins of Valentine and she learns from Gwendolyn's maid that she was driven from the kingdom and imprisoned in a castle. Velvet feels bad in that this happened because of her. So she heads off to go see Gwendolyn. Turns out Odin is there too to see to her safe transportation. After a nice conversation about treating your own child as such which is something we've heard too many times about Odin, crazy grandfather shows up again. And here we have even more lovely conversations about being cruel to our children as he talks about how he killed his daughter with his own hands. Doesn't really make Odin happy.

Anyways, he threatens to attack the Pooka Village if Velvet doesn't obey and attack Odin. Which she does, hence a boss fight ensues. But he's not hard since he's so slow. After the fight, Odin pretends to be hurt so he'll come closer and when he does he grabs him by the neck, threatening to kill him to take revenge for the one he loved. This line right here tells you how nuts he is "If she had any love for you, then her claims to love me were only lies." Sounds like a controlling father to me who wents nuts when his daughter went against his wishes. And apparently that's enough to kill them for. Jeez. Sorry for the rant but this got on my nerves ^^;

After he freaks out for a while asking Odin to kill him, which he doesn't, he heads off to suffer more which is what Odin wants. But in the process he drops more of what Velvet's mother wrote about this curse. Velvet leaves her little sister some last words then goes back to the Pooka Village. Alright, now we're gonna cross paths with Cornelius's story. She hears about him getting the coins back for the Pooka and when she learns his name that's when she realizes that he's had the Pooka curse cast on him. Ingway had the missing pages to the book of transformation so she knows already who did it. Off to Titania now to find Cornelius. Yay for this annoying area. Little does she know the wise men are setting up a trap for her.

She asks the king if she can see Cornelius. The wise men already have control of the situation and won't let him say a word. They lead her right into the trap and a really freakin' annoying boss fight again Belial and Beldor. It's really two bosses to take down. I had the hardest time with this fight more than anything else on her story. Dodging debris and trying to hit the swords back at Beldor to stun him. Anyways, they capture her and runs their mouths about the prophecies again. How they turned Cornelius into a Pooka to get the secrets of Darkova using Ingway to disguise himself as the prince. All to bring King Gallon back from the Netherworld so they could take control after the Armageddon destroys the world. Not sure how they were going to survive it in order to take control. Cuz they couldn't have meant they were the two crownless kings who were going to rule afterwards. There's 3 of them so yeah. Basically, they're just out for world domination. These 3 extremely old guys. So, they put her to sleep and this is where Cornelius comes to save her. Though he runs off when he realizes she knows his secret.

Okay, and we start the last part of her story with Ingway convincing Odette to let him borrow her troops to kill Odin. She's suspsicous because she will not support an act that will ultimately destroy the world. But Ingway makes up a plan and she agrees to allow the army of the dead to appear in Erion. Velvet meets up with Ingway again where some foreshadowing of what's to come is revealed by him. He runs off to sneak into Odin's kingdom and Velvet chases after him. She finds him chatting with Odin and learns the ultimate truth. Ingway destroyed Valentine, not their grandfather. And he did it to save Odin, their father. He wishes he hadn't know he was their father. Otherwise he wouldn't have done it. But even after this, Odin's eyes were still on the cauldron. He didn't care about what Ingway had done for him. So, Ingway gave the fairies the ring of Titrel back then.

Prepared to die for his sins, Ingway transforms into the vicious Darkova. Really is a scary looking beast with three heads. Anyways, Velvet has to stop him. This boss fight isn't too bad. He stays in one place really but has attacks that cue in on you. Basically, you just had to destroy one of his heads to win. Ingway couldn't finish the transformation it seems. After the fight, they relive the awful scene of having to deny their love for their mother in order to live. This is why Ingway thinks she cursed them. Turns out she was happy they chose to live. The second part of her memo to them is about her love for them. She didn't curse them to die. Too late for that now as it's already driven Ingway mad. Velvet is the only sane one now it seems. Cornelius shows up and saves both of them as Odin's army shows up to get rid of them.

Back at the Pooka Village, it seems Ingway left his bed but he'll be back. His part isn't done yet in the story. This is where her mentor comes in with his interpretation of the prophecies. Two people survive the end of the world. The path to the end of the world must be avoided. Unfortunately, it cannot be in the end. After giving Velvet what he has researched on this, he dies because he was injured earlier in the goblin attack. 5 disasters will destroy the world: A 6 eyed beast, a King of the Netherworld, a blazing fire, the Cauldron, and a dragon. He leaves her with the mission to avert the Armageddon. You receive these notes and have to piece together who fights who. I won't go into that now of course. It shall be explained in my final post about this game.

Expect my final comments tomorrow~ As I beat it last night xD

Odin Sphere: Oswald's Story Comments~

Alrighty, back again with another story thingy. I must say that Oswald's story was definitely the saddest. At least to me. And I have finished all of them now. I mean, yeah, there's sad elements in all of them. Velvet's had some crazy stuff too. Anyways, Oswald's starts out with him chatting with Hindel, the wise future seeing dragon. He's there to kill the dragon to prove the power of his Belderiver, the black sword he has, to the queen of the fairies. This event right here is why Wagner is ticked off all the time at pretty much everyone. Because these psypher weapons killed his friend. Can't really blame him I guess. Twas no reason to kill him. And actually the entire reason for proving its power was because Melvin, as you'll remember from Mercedes's story, wanted to mass produce them to take down Odin's army and the other nations. We know how devious he is though. Hindel does leave him with some last words. Telling him to "Seek the bird. That shall be your destiny."

Pretty much the first part of this story involves him doing everything that Melvin says. He sees Melvin as his father because he believes his real parents abandoned him. He's sent to Odin's castle to spy and ends up having to take down Brigan again. Had to fight that chump so many times. While there he sees Gwendolyn and as she leaves a blue feather is left behind. See the bird reference already? There's more later. He comments on how she's different than he's heard considering everyone in the fairy kingdom refers to her as a witch. Anyways, next he's sent to the frontlines of the battle against Odin for the cauldron. It's the same events as with Mercedes only from Oswald's perspective. It strays away from this after the revolt is taken care of by Mercedes.

While on the battlefield, he's met by two Halja from the Netherworld. They tell him he's bound by a contract for using the power within that sword. Oswald has no idea of such contract. Turns out good old Melvin traded his life for the power in that sword. He just lets him do the fighting for him. Though Oswald doesn't believe this at first. He beats down both of the Halja to keep from being taken to the Netherworld and he's left considerably weakened from it. And to think he wanted to mass produce these things. Talk about crazy. This is also the same time that Queen Elfaria is killed like in Mercedes's story. So, then starts the revolt by Melvin to become king. After first convincing Oswald to trust him again, first thing he does is send him to gain the aid of Beldor, one of the wise men. This would considerably help them in their efforts to have him.

He finds him in the forest of Elrit and has to fight off Belial once again. Fought this chump alot too. After defeating him, Beldor pretty much has no choice but to join them. However, even with his help, their revolt ends in failure thanks to Mercedes. Oswald finds Melvin leaning against a pillar, dying pretty much. This is where he admits that he did trade his life for the power in that sword. The man that raised him and treated him as his own son basically used him a tool to become king. He tells Oswald that's all he is to him. Devastated he watches Melvin die right there and he doesn't even care when the troops arrive to take them. However, a halja appears to take Oswald again. And he lets him seeing no reason to resist.

He wakes up in the Netherworld and oh man this is so sad and creepy talking to the people here. All them tell him he killed them and stuff. It's just yeah. He finds Brom here though. Which if you'll remember is the guy who created the sword he uses and strengthened Mercedes's bow to take down Odin. He feels alot of guilt because he knew Oswald's fate for making that sword. Melvin sent him to the Netherworld because he didn't want him telling Oswald the truth. After a small conversation with him he walks away and falls to the ground. He's pretty much as his lowest here. This quote says it all "It's not that I fear death. But I... had no-one to love and no-one to return it in kind..." He once thought someone returned his love but stupid Melvin was only in it for himself. Anyways, he sees a blue bird and he thinks he recognizes it. Another bird reference! Course you know who that bird is referring to after playing Gwendolyn's story. So, he follows it because it gives him hope.

And obviously at the end he has to see Queen Odette's ugly face. But the good thing is you don't have to fight her. She tells him to fight Odin for her and get him to leave the Netherworld and she'll set him free. So he does and Odin promises to leave. But he wants to know how he still lives after being sent to the Netherworld. He says he'll show Oswald the way out unless he'd rather serve Odette and rot there. Picking the better option he leaves with Odin. Turns out Odin wants him to complete a little task for him. He promises him a castle, a spear but Oswald really doesn't care. He doesn't really wanna do anything for this man. That is until he promises Gwendolyn to him. Odin wants him to kill Wagner, the dragon. Doesn't tell him the reason though it's because he wants the ring, Titrel, hidden in his stomach. The ring that controls the cauldron. Oswald says he'll do it if he does indeed promise his daughter to him.

Off to Horn Mountain. After ticking Wagner the heck off by downsizing Hindel's death and insulting him, a raging battle ensues. He does end up killing Wagner and find the ring afterwards. Odin shows up and wants the ring. He refuses to give to him because he didn't state anything about a ring in their agreement. Odin gets ticked but doesn't wanna end up fighting him again. Oswald would own him for the most part. He lets him keep the ring and tells him all the things he promised are his. Oswald doesn't really like the fact that he refers to his daughter as a thing. Odin tells him she's in a castle and under a spell. The man who wakes her up she will devote her undying love to. But you come to find this spell ain't all that perfect. Since you can't manipulate someone's heart. He goes to her and finally realizes that she's the bird he saw and that Hindel was referring to. Her maid tells him the only way to wake her up is to kiss her. Oswald doesn't want to do this though. He wants her to love him because she really does. Not because of a spell. So, he looks for another way to break the spell.

However, Skuldi, another wise man, shows up and kidnaps her. Apparently, he wants to draw Odin out to destroy him for deceiving all three of the wise men. They told him the secrets of the jewels and showed him the path to the Netherworld yet he still went against them. Everyone is so selfish in this game xD Oswald chases him down and beats the crap out of him for taking her and telling him that the objective the wise men wanted was the destroy the world like in the prophecies. They were trying to make it come true. Unfortunately, Gwendolyn is not there. She's in the fire kingdom with king Onyx. Why? Because Odin promised him she would become his fiance. Ain't he just the sweetest father? Seriously. She was used as bait to bring the fire king out and into their realm. Which ticks Oswald off even more. So, he kills him and heads to the fire kingdom fearing that he's already woken her up and stolen her heart. Wanna make Oswald mad, treat someone as just an object.

After a nice conversation between Odin and Onyx, you find out that spell isn't really all it's cracked up to be. In the end, she won't love someone just because of that spell. Her heart cannot be controlled. Oswald rushes through the fire kingdom and finally finds her. Still asleep. He's relieved. Then Onyx shows up. It's like two guys fighting over a girl really xD Though really Oswald deserves her more. Because all Onyx wants her for is for his reputation and something else that's hinted. You can probably guess what that is. Oswald beats the crap out of him because he wants her more than anything else and doesn't want to lose her to this guy who is only going to treat her like an object. Let me tell you though, the fight with Onyx is tough. Hardest fight I've had. And I wasn't prepared for at all really. I somehow did it with some luck. Oswald wins and listens to him whine about being madly in love with her, not being able to live with these feelings, and how it hurts to have lost her to him in one moment. Oswald tells him those are his words exactly.

Onyx then tells him the truth about the spell. When Oswald learns that she cannot be manipulated to love someone by the spell, he's relieved. He can now wake her up and find out if she shares his feelings. He tells Onyx he will use his blade for him once if he wishes. But also leaves him with the words that while he still lives he will not let him near her. He heads back to the castle and wonders how she'll react when she wakes up. Will she run away, hate him? He puts aside those fears. He doesn't care if it brings him pain in the end.
"I want to see... I want to see my reflection in your eyes..."
"I want to hear... I want to hear those soft lips speak my name..."
"And if, for a moment, a smile lights your face..."
"I will be able to live."
"No one controls me now."
"From now on, I act on my own... For you..."

Just had to include those last words in his story. I love them. So he kisses her and that's where it ends. And we already know from Gwendolyn's story that they do indeed share the same feelings. You get to see the after he kisses her stuff in her story. A happy ending~ The fights in his story weren't too bad. Onyx was a dang beast. Definitely the hardest. I really enjoyed his story though. Reminded me of a certain someone who already knows who they are ^^ In a good way though. Anyways, I shall post Velvet's story stuff later. Now I go back to getting myself ready to beat this game~

Odin Sphere: Mercedes's Story Comments~

Alrighty, I'm not gonna keep this long. Cuz I don't feel like doing a long post about it ^^; In essence, Mercedes is the princess of the fairy kingdom, Ringford. The kingdom is in a war with Odin over the cauldron. If he has it, the fairies will lose their phozons and won't be able to live. So then starts a war. Mercedes's mother is killed by Odin on the battlefield, which leaves her as the new queen. And she knows nothing about being a queen. Her cousin Melvin, sneaky dude, sees this as his opportunity to cause a revolt so he can become king. And that he does.

Mercedes takes what little troops she has that still support her as the new queen. They try to get Beldor, one of the wise men, on their side but Melvin has already acted to gain his aid. Beldor attacks Mercedes with Belial, the dragon. She defeats it, but the mean old wizard tries to kill her himself. Alas, he is stopped by a frog. Yes, a frog. This frog will continue to follow her around wanting her to kiss him so he become human again. Where have I heard this story before? xD But the frog is actually a pretty important person. With magic powers that come in handy.

Anyways, they end up stopping Melvin's rebellion even with their small number of troops. Mercedes is able to defeat his shadow knight, Oswald, and shortly after they are both sent to the Netherworld. Mercedes is slowly becoming a better queen. With the frog's help. And they know they need to stop Odin still from getting the cauldron. Only way to do that is make a stronger psypher that can destroy his. They need Brom, this great dwarf blacksmith, to do that. Unfortunately, he is in the Netherworld. Turns out Melvin sent him there. And Beldor knows where he's located. And the frog knows where the three wise men hang out. In the sewers of Titania. So, Titania be their next location. Oh man, but here is where you fight the most annoying boss fight ever. Beldor is just wow. And after Mercedes promises to pardon him of his crimes if he'll help them too. Anyways, in the fight you have to knock these swords back at him to stun him before you can pummel away at him. And dodge these stupid jumping guards at the same time.

So, she defeats Beldor and he's still being hateful trying to kill her until the frog suddenly turns him into a Pooka xD That was just hilarious. Pretty much leaving him defenseless now. The frog collapses after using the power and Mercedes gives him that kiss he's been waiting for. Much to her surprise he does turn back into a human. Turns out that frog was Ingway, the prince of Valentine. You know, Velvet's twin and the dude who cursed Cornelius. Turns out he was turned into a frog by Urzur. But anyways, he takes off because he has stuff to do but funnily enough they seem to have feelings towards one another. Beldor is taken back to the kingdom and forced to show them the way to Brom in the Netherworld.

They arrive there and Beldor takes off not wanting to show the way only to get taken by a Halja anyways. So, Mercedes continues on to rescue Brom and has to fight Queen Odette in the process. Lag fight ftl. But yeah, she does and they go back to Ringford. Brom has an idea about how to make the psypher stronger but needs the fire from the fire kingdom to do it. They go there, meet the king of Valentine again, have to fight Levanthan, the last dragon, again. Then they get the heck out of there and go back to Ringford. Brom finally improves Mercedes's psypher to be able to destroy Odin's then asks if he can take a break as blacksmith. He wants to go see Oswald to settle some things. So, off he goes and the rest of the kingdom prepares for war against Odin.

After an enlightening speech, they storm the battlefield, defeating all in their path. And finally she makes it to Odin. And might I add that the boss fight against him is incredibly easy with her. And after he badmouths her at the beginning xD She destroys his psypher. And he pretty much can't believe he's been defeated by this little fairy girl. Instead of killing him right then and there, because she doesn't want him to become a martyr, she makes him promise never to show his face to her again and to leave the cauldron and their kingdom alone. If not, then she'll have her troops invade his kingdom and he'll lose much more than he already has. He agrees to it and promises to uphold his word. Mercedes wins the war and saves the kingdom, avenging her mother's death in the process. And she becomes a true queen in the end.

Ain't that a nice story? Let me tell you, the next one is not as heartfelt. It's pretty dang sad. But hopefully it'll have a happy ending. Guess I'll see~

Etrian Odyssey 3!?

Yeah, this really shows how much I pay attention ^^; Did not know there was a third game till recently in this series. I mean it just came out in April in Japan. So, I guess I'm not too behind. Come at Atlus! Localize it! It's awesome xD There's a pirate class this time! And I really love this series. This one seems to have alot of sea exploration. It takes a totally different turn from the other two. Same concepts but different atmosphere. And probably other new added stuff. Do want~ I'll just have to wait and see if Atlus decides to bring it over. It shall be mine. And actually, I'd consider importing it if they don't localize it. But for now, just gonna wait.

Pirates ftw!

Other character classes:

Got some interesting stuff. This is totally different from the first two games. Really is. Totally new character classes. Please Atlus... please... xD

Etrian Odyssey final comments~

Yep, I finally finished post game. And man, the 6th stratum was dang tough. No doubt about that. Freakin' warp panels and pitfalls everywhere making it hard to navigate. And FOE's everywhere. Anyways, there were these three dragons in the game that are like really difficult to fight. At first I thought they were optional. But when I got to the 30th floor of the dungeon I found out you had to defeat them in order to access the final boss of post game. Luckily, I had already done that xD Because I wanted to kill them anyways. First, I'll go over my final team of peeps then talk a bit about the dragons and final boss.

Alright, Arcadia is just an honorable mention ^^; Because she only helped get me through the final stratum. That was filled with nasty enemies with high physical defense but very vulnerable to magic. Like my powerful physical stuff only did 1-5 damage on them. So yeah. Incredibly helpful. But I didn't take her into the fights with the dragons or Primevil, the final post game boss.

The dragons were just easy to manipulate really. All of them used some sort of element. Wyrm was fire, Drake was ice, and Dragon was volt. Basically, you spam either Antifire, Anticold, or Antivolt every single turn. Depending on who you're fighting. Because that will block their elemental attack completely. If you don't, you'll get torn apart and lose almost all your team from one shot of it. Because it hits all. From then, it's Apollon/Multihit with my Survivalist, Immunize every 4 turns and heal with Salve 2 in between, and Allslash with my swordie. With Wyrm I had to constantly spam Bravery in order to keep my team from getting confused. Basically, I manipulated him into using a skill that removed beneficial stats xD It was pretty humorous. He did attack sometimes but it didn't do that much damage thanks to Immunize. With Drake I didn't have to worry about that. I just kept having to use Erasure to knock off his defense up stat he kept doing. And with Dragon I had to constantly recast Immunize and Relaxing because he had a move called Corruption that got rid of them. They were tough. And you pretty much had to block and manipulate stuff to survive. Otherwise, they'd destory you in one shot.

Now, let's talk about Primevil, the ugliest boss I've ever seen. Seriously. Look at this thing:

Not my screenshot obviously xD But dang. Anyways, he was annoying as heck. But funny thing is he always attacks in the same pattern. If you figured it out, you pretty much had him other than the physical attacks he had. And you had to use a boosted Immunize. Even with a normal Immunize his physical attacks hurt bad. And they hit more than once. If I had gotten unlucky someone could have died. Actually, someone did die once but I quickly fixed that. Basically, know what turns he uses an elemental attack on and use the right Anti skill to block it. He has so much dang Hp though. Like 90,000. So, it took a while to kill him. And I almost ran out of Tp on some people ^^; Thunder did run out. Luckily Rami and Aika didn't. Twas a good fight though.

And that's pretty much it for Etrian Odyssey. The first game anyways. I be playing the second game now. The only things that carry over from this game to that one are the Town Medal and Town Crown. The Town Medal you get for beating the game in general. Like just beat the final boss. The Town Crown you get by filling in the monster and item compendium completely. Which means you have to do post game. And that's just way too annoying and alot of work. Ain't doing it~ I'll just take my Town Medal and go. On to other things.

Odin Sphere: Cornelius's Story Comments~

Alrighty, I finished his story not long ago. It got pretty dang challenging towards the end. He definitely had the most annoying final area ever. Nothing in Gwendolyn's story came close to that amount of annoyance >_< Slimes that can only be killed using Napalms and wizzards that disappear all over the place and you have to chase. Plus the final boss of his story is just beyond frustrating. Without Napalms anyways. Cuz that's what I did to beat him xD Lag and flying debris do not mix. Some boss fights are just bad like that. Queen Odette certainly is. Ah well.

Anyways, lets talk a bit about what happened in his story. Cornelius is the prince of Titania. One of the big kingdoms/military power/etc in the world of this game. He's apparently in love with Velvet, the princess of Valentine, which you'll remember was in Gwendolyn's story. As Odin's daughter from an enemy nation. He gets turned into a Pooka. The bunny looking thing in the picture above. And I think he's cute like that ^^; But apparently everyone else looks down on them in this game. He's fun to play as to me. Like out of the three characters I've used so far he wins in that category. His story is all about him trying to turn himself back to normal so he can return home and face Velvet again too.

The act of turning him into a Pooka was a curse set up by Ingway, Velvet's twin brother, and the sorcerer, Urzur. He was like a head sorcerer I guess in Titania. Well respected by the king. Ingway did it so he couldn't see his sister anymore (Cornelius's father didn't want him to see her anymore either) and Urzur wants the secret power of the Titanian royal family. Which in the end both end up wanting it. Cornelius does alot of running around thanks to these two. And almost gets pwned badly by a dragon. Wagner was definitely an annoying boss fight. But anyways, he meets up with Pookas in the kingdom of Valentine, thanks to Wagner, trying to turn themselves back to normal by collecting all the coins of Valentine. He finds out how Valentine was destroyed in the process as well. Their own king used the crystallization cauldron and brought ruin to the land turning the survivors into Pookas. Though Velvet and Ingway somehow escaped this curse.

This king somehow makes his way back from the Netherworld and is trying to control the cauldron again. He has the ring Titrel which controls it as well. But Cornelius manages to stop him. Twice actually. And one of those times he saves Velvet from him. Though she doesn't know it's him obviously. So he ends up just going back to the Netherworld because he doesn't have much power after all that. But he does inform him that the power of the Titanian royal family can turn someone into a terrible beast. And that his grandfather used it to stop the kingdom of Valentine in a war long ago. But he went out of control and Cornelius's father had to kill him. He killed him with the sword Cornelius received in the Netherworld. It's then he realizes that's who gave him that sword while he was there. That was the voice he heard.

Upon returning to the Pookas, he's informed that a dragon is attacking Titania and sacrifices are being made to it. He quickly returns to Titania to find his father and Urzur. And Urzur's plan is revealed. He wants to bring Cornelius's grandfather back from the Netherworld and turn him into a terrible beast again. His father tells him that Velvet is being offered to the dragon in the sewers so he runs off to save her. In the sewers he finds Urzur and Ingway again. Arguing this time because Urzur hasn't held up his end of the deal. Which was to give Ingway the power of the Titanian royal family for turning Cornelius into a Pooka. Urzur is pretty much like I had no intention of keeping my end of the deal plus I have the ring of Titrel. But funnily enough it's a fake given to him by Ingway. So much backstabbing xD So, Urzur threatens to kill Velvet right then and there. Ingway heals Cornelius and tells him to go rescue her while he deals with Urzur.

Enter a very annoying boss fight. As I said earlier. Major lag. After an already annoying last area to get to him. So anyways, you beat the dragon, whose heart was being controlled by Urzur, and upon defeating him that spell was broken. In the end, the dragon gobbles him up and takes him to the Netherworld with him. Pretty dang hilarious. Velvet is saved and Cornelius returns to the castle. His father wants to give up the crown and make him king but he refuses. Because the people would never honor a Pooka as king. He tells his father to be strong and live up to his heritage and leaves the kingdom to continue the cause to break the spell and turn him back to normal. But before leaving, he makes his way to the forest to meet up with Velvet and tell her the truth. He tries to leave telling her she can't be with him anymore now that he's a Pooka. But she doesn't care. He's still Cornelius to her and she loves him no matter how he looks on the outside. He promises her eternal happiness and they leave together to go back to the Pooka Village to help the Pookas collect the coins to turn them back to normal.

Ain't it sweet? Twas a nice ending there~ Um, his story had some bosses I fought on Gwendolyn's path in it. Like Brigan, Queen Odette, and Belial. Just at different points in time. I mean I fought Queen Odette first in his story and last in hers. Course the difficulty is different. And what's funny is you fight Belial last on his and first on hers. I loved his story though. Definitely my favorite character thus far. Anyways, the next story is Mercedes, the fairy queen. And she's proving to be difficult to use for me ^^; But I shall update when I finish her story. Keep going!

Pokemon Black and White info~

As you can see, info was leaked today from CoroCoro. About the starter Pokemon mainly. But there was other information like the region name (Isshu) and the protagonist characters are supposed to be older. This region is supposed to be far away. Whatever that means. How far away it is from the other regions remains to be seen. Not gonna go into much else other than the starters because alot of information still needs to be verified as truth.

Um, the grass starter is supposed to be a snake like thing. It's the green Pokemon obviously in the scan. And honestly, that's my favorite right now. It's so cute and I love how it looks. The fire starter is the pig xD I'm sorry but a fire pig just cracks me up for whatever reason. And the water starter is a sea otter. Though it doesn't really look like an otter to me.

They all end up as dual types. The snake becomes grass/fighting, the pig becomes fire/dark, and the otter becomes water/psychic. So, it's balanced out basically. I'd love to see their evolved forms too. They're probably pretty awesome looking. But so far, my eye is on the grass starter~ That's probably the one I'll pick. Seems this generation has also changed my notion of always picking the fire type. Just like Johto.

Alright, that's all I have to say about this. It's a Pokemon update day xD I'm out again~

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver finished~

Well, finished in the sense that I've beaten the main opponents like the Elite 4 and Red. The Elite 4 twice because they considerably amp up their teams the second time you fight them. Red was just wow. Challenging. Pokemon in the 80's and I beat him with my level 63 team xD All it takes is some strategy and luck~

Anyways, there are plenty of other things to do in these games. Rematches with the gym leaders, the Safari Zone, the Pokéathlon, the Battle Tower, filling in the Pokedex, etc. Of course, I'm not going into all of this at the moment. I have many other games to attend to. So, for now, I'm going to go over my thoughts about these games. From when I started playing SS I was impressed with the work they put into the games. The changes and stuff. All of that is in my first post about the games.

First up, music. Good stuff~ They remade some old classic tunes on the Gameboy into new, awesome completely revamped tunes. I loved it. Some of my favorites include the gym leader themes (for both Johto and Kanto), Elite 4 theme, the battle against the champion, battle against Red, the music that plays in Dark Cave, and the music that plays Cianwood City. To name a few because I really enjoyed the music all around. Um, I'll go into sound effects a bit too here. I really like the sound of water they added when you're near a lake or the ocean. Or a waterfall even. It just adds a nice touch. Little things amuse me so yeah ^^;

Next, the environment. Of course the graphics and the entire Johto and Kanto worlds were revamped to the max. Better graphics and all that. But they changed some places a bit. I know Mount Silver was different than I remember. Rock Climb (the only new HM) had to do with that but it was nifty how you're like climbing to the top of a mountain to fight the strongest trainer among both regions. That was just kinda epic when I reached the top and found him. The puzzles in the gyms were nicely changed as well. I really liked that. Um, some of the legendaries you couldn't get in the original games you can obtain now. Like Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. Mewtwo as well. Not to mention Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Latios, and Latias from Ruby and Sapphire. And Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. So many Pokemon you can obtain in these two games. It's good stuff.

Alright, and now I'll talk about gym leaders, the Elite 4, and Red. Battle mechanics and stuff. Because the normal trainers in the game aren't that different. Um, gym leaders provided a pretty good challenge. It was different from the original games because the battle mechanics had been changed a bit from then and now. Physical and special moves are an entirely different thing now. Not based on type but whether the move really is physical or not. This was a huge change that effected the usefulness of some Pokemon. Because of the way their stats are and the moves they can learn. Anyways, gym leaders were pretty much the same. Some minor changes to their teams. Now the rematches with them are something else. Because their teams are totally remade and at a much higher level. The Elite 4 is the same way. They're the same when you fight the first time between the original games. But the rematch with all of them is tough. They got Pokemon in the 60's to level 75. Lance of course has the level 75 and it's a Dragonite. He was a monster the second time around.

The toughest two trainers in the game are definitely Lance and Red. And I mean the rematch against Lance. He had a team of Salamence, Garchomp, Dragonite, Charizard, Altaria, and Gyarados the second time around. We're talking Garchomp is banned from competitive play. Considered an uber now. Yeah, that thing was ridiculous. Salamence and Dragonite are also incredibly powerful Pokemon. Gyarados died quickly due to being weak x4 to electricity. And Altaria was just annoying because it used Double Team and Perish Song. A very annoying combination right there. His Charizard flinched the crap out of me with Air Slash. Ugh. He just had an annoying team. Period. But I took his butt down.

Red had a team of Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Lapras, and Snorlax. His Pikachu was definitely the weakest thing he had. But it was also the highest level Pokemon he had too xD At level 88. And my level 63 Nidoking pwned its face with Earth Power. Lapras caused some trouble. Mainly because freakin' Blizzard hit everytime. Talk about annoying. A move that's normally 75% accuracy. His Blastoise also had Blizzard. Snorlax could have been more annoying had I not had a fighting type Pokemon with Close Combat. And I did. Heracross ftw. Venusaur got pwned with Dragon Dance'd Fly on my Dragonite. Charizard wasn't too hard to take down either. I didn't flinch to Air Slash like I did with Lance! And Blastoise was the last one he sent out against me. Blizzard still hit every dang time on it. But eventually I took it down with Ampharos. I basically just took advantage of weaknesses. And used my three max revives ^^; Because all his Pokemon were in the 80's. While mine were level 63. Ah, it was a good fight though~

So, lets look at my final team~

Feraligator (Level 63)

Held Item: Mystic Water
Hp: 192
Attack: 188

Nidoking (Level 63)

Sp. Attack: 127
Sp. Defense: 123
Speed: 144

Moves: Rock Climb, Sludge Bomb, Megahorn, Earth Power

Flareon (Level 63)
Nature: Naughty
Held Item: Charcoal
Hp: 162
Attack: 217
Defense: 98
Sp. Attack: 157
Sp. Defense: 140
Speed: 122

Moves: Strength, Fire Fang, Ember, Bite

Dragonite (Level 63)

Attack: 191
Defense: 112

And that's pretty much it for this. I loves my team. I used my favorites of course. They carried me through this playthrough and kicked butt. So, HeartGold and SoulSilver are awesome remakes. And I enjoyed playing through SoulSilver. I'll play through HeartGold someday. So for now, I'm out~

Tales of Eternia initial thoughts~

Alright, I've had this game for a while now. It's the imported European version for the PSP in case anyone was wondering. Cuz finding the original PSX game under the wrong title of "Tales of Destiny 2" would be impossible xD Anyways, I have played the game before. I just kinda dropped it and just now go back to it. After a few years ^^;

It's pretty much your standard Tales game. Not too different from the old games like Phantasia and Destiny in how it plays. Battle system wise it's quite simple. 2-D of course so you can only move left or right. You can run to position yourself behind the enemy. Basically, you'll just run right past them. Very useful to take down enemies hiding in the back that may be spell casters. Um, the physical fighters like Reid and Farah have two different stats you build up to learn new skills. Reid has Slash and Thrust and certain weapons utilize more over the other except for swords which are pretty much the balanced weapons. Farah has Punch and Kick. All the weapons I've found for her are just balanced in general. And like all Tales games, to learn new skills you also have to use the ones you've learned a certain number of times.

Spell casters in the group are different and have an even more interesting way to learn new spells. Another similarity is the gathering of "craymels" or as you've probably heard in other Tales games "summon spirits." You know, Undine, Efeet, Gnome, Sylph, etc. Yeah, those things. You capture them in this game for a purpose obviously in the story but this is also how your spell casters gain new magic. Meredy has a craymel cage and Keele has one. Depending on which craymel you put in their cage, and you can switch them around, your spell casters will have different spells. Not only that, the craymels level up the more you use their skills and you can summon them in battle when a gauge fills up. Also, there is something called Fringe in this game with the craymel cages. It's basically combining the craymel's power by putting them in separate cages to create new spells. It depends on what craymels you have in the cages too. As they level up, they gain new spells which you can fringe to create. It's really fun and interesting. You just have to decide what spells you want and which spell caster you want using it.

Okay, that's enough about the battle system. Because other than that it's just utilizing the right tactics to win. The boss fights in this game are rather challenging. The craymels certainly were. And one particular other fight too. Story line wise, it's reminding me of other Tales games once again. That's not to say it's bad though. There's a slight discrimination feel to it. And with it revolving around two worlds each with different craymels, it's reminding me alot of other Tales games. But the story is pretty good so far and there have been some funny moments xD No complaints from me about this game as of right now. It's fun and it's not boring so yeah.

I've had fun with every Tales game I've played. And I enjoy the series. When and if I'll ever get to play another one remains to be seen. But I shall update again after I finish Eternia~

Odin Sphere: Gwendolyn's Story Comments~

Alright, I actually finished her story in Odin Sphere either in December or January. I can't remember which ^^; It's been a while. I was still on Christmas break I know that much. Anyways, don't read past this point unless you want to be spoiled on her story or Odin Sphere in general.

Obviously, her story is the first one you do when you start Odin Sphere. She's a valkyrie and when you first start you find yourself immediately on the battlefield. Gwendolyn is Odin's daughter and she fights for him in his valkyrie army of sorts, which is currently in a war with another nation. What are they fighting about? A magical Crystallization Cauldron that could give either side enormous power. And Odin wants it. Right at the beginning she finds her sister dying on the battlefield. After they exchange their last words, she gives Gwendolyn her spear and dies in her arms. After going back and reporting this to Odin, he doesn't seem all that distraught that one of his daughters has died. Which kinda ticks Gwendolyn off a bit.

After some key story points, there's always a little bird that talks to her. It probably represents her conscious and what she really thinks. Though she refuses to admit the stuff it says alot of the time. She wants to be noticed and recognized by her father but after certain events are revealed that desire begins to diminish. It starts when she meets Velvet, daughter of the former princess of Valentine. Who she comes to find out is her half sister because Odin apparently fell in love with the princess of that nation and had a child with her. Brigan (might have spelled that wrong), one of his generals, discovers this and threatens to make it known that Odin had an affair with someone from an enemy nation should he not let him kill Velvet. Odin doesn't want her to die but that becoming known would ruin him pretty much. So Brigan goes off to kill her.

In comes Gwendolyn wanting to be recognized by her father again. She goes off to stop Brigan and ends up killing him. Upon returning to her father, he is grateful that she stopped him and saved Velvet but has to give her the ultimate punishment of a valkyrie warrior. She is stripped of her pride basically and has to commit her life to a man. Who in this case actually does love her. She got lucky in that regard xD Oswald, the shadow knight as he is called because he made a deal with Queen Odette of the netherworld to gain power, gives her a ring. Not just any ring though. It's the ring that controls the Crystallization Cauldron. This is given to her out of love and is a symbol of that. But her father also needs it to control the cauldron. Now she's caught in between her feelings for Oswald and her commitment to her father. In the end though she chooses to give the ring to Odin.

This obviously heartbreaks Oswald when he finds out. And because of this, he allows himself to be dragged back into the netherworld to repay his debt to Odette. At this point he sees no reason to live anymore. Gwendolyn, having been restored to full power by her father for giving him the ring, travels to the netherworld to save Oswald. And might I add that the final fight with Odette is extremely annoying as heck. The game lags in this fight because so much stuff is going on onscreen. Anyways, she ends up saving him and refuses to give her father back the cauldron ring because of what it represents. Finally, she breaks free of her obsession to be noticed by her father.

Twas a pretty interesting story. Some nice fights too. Brigan was pretty annoying to fight. The two dragons you fight in her story aren't too hard. Odette takes the cake for most annoying fight though. Anyways, Velvet and Oswald are also playable characters who have their own stories. And they definitely connect with this one. All the stories connect in some way. 5 in total.

Currently, I have started the second story, for Cornelius. I don't know what connection there will be between it and the others. Guess I shall find out~ More updates to come as I continue through this game.

Spring semester end~

Yes, everyone, I have made it through this difficult and sometimes quite annoying semester of college. So, all I have left to finish college for good and get the heck out of there are my two classes in the summer and this coming fall semester. Originally I made a post about having 3 classes in the summer but that ended up not working out due to financial issues. Couldn't afford it in other words. But it doesn't matter, I just took that other class in the fall. So the summer looks like this now:

June 3rd to July 7th
Spanish 211~ 11:45 to 1:15

July 8th to August 10th
Spanish 212~ 9:40 to 11:10

I wanted the first one earlier but couldn't get into an earlier session after canceling the other class. But oh well. It's just for a month. Both are. I gots this month to do nothing involving school xD Anyways, tis all good. I'll make a post later about my grades for this semester when I get them and then another with my class schedule for the fall. Stuff still needs to get worked out for it though. Like my financial aid. They better clear my loan I need for the fall. Otherwise I don't know what I'm going to do. I've done what I need to do for it so yeah. It might just be worry on my part but still. Because they changed things I never know.

On a happier note, lets talk about games!
What I plan to beat this summer:
Odin Sphere
Tales of Eternia
Etrian Odyssey 1 (finish post game)
Etrian Odyssey 2
Pokemon SoulSilver (Just finish the E4 again and Red)
Phantom Brave: We Meet Again

To start xD This is my plan for the moment. Time to have fun~
